Fire crews were called to battle flames at a business in Franklin Township, Butler County, Saturday morning. The fire broke out at Trader Horn on New Castle Road shortly after 10:30 a.m. "The fire was all contained to the attic area of the structure.

Authorities in Butler County are looking for a man who tried to lure a teenage girl into his vehicle Sunday night. According to police, a man tried to lure a 15-year-old girl into his vehicle on Bonniebrook Road in Jefferson Township around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Raymond Seybert, 35, of Butler County, was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at a hospital after being found late Monday during a routine check at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette. Seybert was serving up to 32 years in prison for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and had been an inmate at the prison since June 2004.

The company announced Tuesday that it won't renew the leases for its Elder-Beerman store in the Raleigh Mall in Beckley, West Virginia, and its Bon-Ton store in the Clearview Mall in Butler, Pennsylvania. The leases will end on Jan. 31, 2015.

Officials at a western Pennsylvania state park have identified a woman who fell to her death trying to retrieve a camera she had dropped near a rocky ledge. Bryan Moore, who supervises park rangers at McConnells Mill State Park in Lawrence County, says the victim is 58-year-old Cheryl Goebel, of Cranberry Township, Butler County.

A company that performs background checks for the federal government has cut 1,200 jobs in western Pennsylvania after losing two government contracts. But officials including U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, a Butler County Republican, are hoping many of the laid off workers will be hired by other western Pennsylvania companies that do the same kind of work.
