Liga MX transfer news: The latest rumors and chisme in Mexican soccerSporting News — firstname.lastname@example.org (Sporting News)
Chivas ready to play hardball for Macias
Chivas are in no rush to sell forward Jose Juan Macias to Leon, according to Record .
Currently on loan with Leon, Macias has four goals in five matches. However, Chivas have put a price of $15 million on the 19-year-old to join Leon full-time after the season.
The high clause was inserted in part because of Grupo Pachuca, which owns Leon and Pachuca, driving a hard bargain and demanding $8 million for goalkeeper Rodoflo Cota in the 2018 Clausura.
Reyes & Gutierrez on El Tri fringe
Diego Reyes and Erick Gutierrez are two Mexicans based in Europe who are on the fringe of the national team, according to Record .
New manager Tata Martino has goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, defenders Nestor Araujo and Hector Moreno, midfielder Andres Guardado, wingers Hirving Lozano and Jesus Corona, and forwards Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and Raul Jimenez in his plans for the March friendly matches against Chile and Paraguay.
Reyes and Gutierrez, however, are less certain to be called with Reyes still settling in on loan at Leganes and Gutierrez seeing only sporadic playing time with PSV.
Timbers make offer for Tigres forward Vargas
The Portland Timbers have made an offer for Tigres forward Eduardo Vargas, Univision reports.
The offer is said to be around $10 million (£ 8m) for the 29-year-old, who won two titles with America.
ESPN reporter Jeff Carlisle also backed up the report.
Tigres forward Andre-Pierre Gignac, however, later put out an Instagram story with himself and Vargas and wrote, "He's not going."
Lyon president stokes Herrera rumors
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas tweeted about his club's interest in bringing Mexico midfielder Hector Herrera to the club.
In response to a report in Foot01 about competition heating up for the Rosarito native's signature, the executive noted Herrera "and his family would like to come to Lyon."
Earlier in the week, Italian media wrote that Herrera and AC Milan are nearing a deal, while the French outlet claims Tottenham also is in the mix. Herrera's Porto contract expires in the summer.
Cruz Azul considering move for Milan midfielder
Cruz Azul is looking to bring in AC Milan midfielder Jose Mauri in the summer, according to Sport Mediaset .
The 22-year-old has played in only four Serie A matches this season and is set to leave the club on a free after the season concludes.
Lozano's agent, Napoli have agreement
Hirving Lozano's agent, Mina Raiola, already has given Napoli the thumbs up for a move for Lozano, according to Il Mattino .
But while the Serie A side has a deal on the table to the representative's liking, they're still $6 million away from meeting PSV's $40 million asking price after tabling a bid of $34 million.
This winter, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Napoli would target the winger in the next transfer window. The 23-year-old PSV player has stood out since moving abroad from Pachuca and garnered attention from a number of top clubs.
Milan making HH push
AC Milan is making a push to sign Hector Herrera this summer on a free transfer, according to Sport Mediaset .
With the Mexico midfielder's contract with Porto set to expire this summer, Herrera is expected to head for a bigger club. His agent conducted talks with Inter and Roma this winter but feels more confident that HH would slot directly in to Gennaro Gattuso's starting lineup.
Valencia's Chicharito efforts fall short
Valencia and West Ham United were $4 million apart on a deal for forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, according to Marca.
Los Che wanted Hernandez for his scoring abilities and his La Liga experience but the Hammers required a formal proposal to buy the player rather than a loan deal. West Ham was asking for between €12 million and €15m ($13.3m and $17.1m) for Mexico's all-time leading scorer.
Monaco also got into the race for the 30-year-old as well and was prepared to give up €12m.
